Mother of Thousands (Kalanchoe daigremontiana) is a fascinating succulent known for its unique reproductive strategy. Its thick, scalloped leaves produce small plantlets along the edges, giving rise to its name. This hardy plant thrives in well-draining soil, requires moderate watering, and can be grown both indoors and outdoors. With its ability to rapidly propagate, the Mother of Thousands is a popular choice for succulent enthusiasts seeking an intriguing addition to their collection.

Plant Care: Upon receiving your live plants, it's essential to offer them water promptly to rejuvenate them after their journey. Position the plant in an area with indirect sunlight, allowing it to gradually regain its vitality.

Repotting Instructions: Once the plant has fully recovered, you may contemplate repotting it in nutrient-rich soil, either within its current decorative pot or a new one. Ensure the selected pot features adequate drainage holes to prevent overwatering, especially if the decorative pot lacks these holes.

Plant Care

Light & Temperature

  • The Mother of Thousand plant should be placed in bright, indirect sunlight or artificial light. Can also be placed in direct sunlight for 4-5 hours.
  • A western or southern window is ideal.
  • Plant do best in temperatures between 55 and 80°F (13 and 27°C). The temperatures of most homes and apartment are ideal.
  • From May to September, you can bring your plant outdoors without any problems, but do bring it back inside in the evening if nights are cold.

Watering

  • Water Mother of Thousand plant if upper soil is dry.
  • To discourage rot, allow the soil to dry at least 1 to 2 inches deep between waterings. Don’t let your plant sit in water.
  • Use your finger to test dryness before watering. If the potting mix stays wet, the plants’ roots can begin to rot.

Fertilizing

  • Fertilize sparingly (no more than once a month).
  • Fertilization should be done preferably in the spring and summer with a balanced houseplant formula mixed at ½ strength.
  • Use a very well-draining soil for potting.
  • Keep regularly spraying Neem Oil

General Tips

Position in bright, indirect sunlight or artificial light. It can handle 4-5 hours of direct sun, particularly in western or southern windows.

Maintain temperatures between 55 and 80°F (13 and 27°C), suitable for most indoor settings. If outdoors from May to September, shelter it from cold evenings.

Water when upper soil is dry, allowing 1 to 2 inches of depth to dry between watering. Prevent overwatering and check soil moisture with a finger test.

During warmer months, outdoor exposure is fine. Return indoors if nights get chilly.

Apply balanced houseplant fertilizer at half strength, preferably during spring and summer. Keep fertilizing minimal, not more than once monthly.

Choose well-draining potting mix to prevent excess moisture.
